 the Frog

A vertebrate of amphibians belonging to the petrol group, the word means, in Greek, tailless. Frogs are characterized by their short, soft bodies, and long hind legs, ending with fingers interconnected with thin membranes, which help them to swim, their eyes are protruding, and they do not have a tail. Most frogs live in semi-aquatic medium, move by jumping, and can climb. It lays its eggs in streams, ponds, and lakes. Its larva is called a tadpole, and it has gills to breathe in water. Adult frogs are predators and feed on arthropods, ringworms, and gastropods, and they are often observed, through the sounds of their chirping, at night, during the day, or during periods of estrus.

Frogs are found in almost all parts of the world, from the tropics to the semi-cold regions, but most of their species live in tropical rainforests, where more than 5,000 species have been recorded, and they are among the most widespread vertebrates, however, it has been observed in recent years, decreased in some of its concentrations in different parts of the world.

There is an amphibian of the order without a tail that resembles a frog and is called a toad, and it is often similar to people and does not distinguish it from a frog. This animal, unlike the frog, is characterized by external characteristics and behavioral patterns that differ from the frog, as it is more adapted to live far from the water and lacks the skill of jumping, and accordingly, its skin is thicker than the skin of a frog and its legs are short compared to the frog.
