Contribution of women in parliament
The participation of women in political life and their access to decision-making institutions, especially parliament, is essential for their full enjoyment of citizenship and for their public freedom to be observed.
But the political role of women in our Arab societies has been characterized by weakness and limitations, and this is due to the adoption of democracy and equality as theoretical principles only that do not go beyond being slogans, and the evidence for this is the lack of acceptance by some of women'sthe work in the political or judicial field, which affected women’s participation in political life in a situation From marginalization and weakening its role in drafting legislation and laws, and not giving it an active role in representing and expressing the will of half of society.
And women’s access to positions of power, especially the legislative authority, is no longer just a demand for justice and democracy but has become a necessary condition for taking into account women’s interests, as without the active participation of women and the introduction of their vision at all levels of decision-making, the goals of equality and participation among women cannot be achieved. The two genders, form the material basis for the progress of society and the development of laws and legislations that govern the status of women in the family and society, allowing them to assume the responsibility of defending the basic issues that society suffers from alongside men
Despite all this marginalization of women in our Arab societies, there is an honorable Arab example of democracy and an important role for women at the political level, which is the Emirati model, where the UAE was able to overcome the stereotypical image of women and made them assume an effective position in society.
The role of women in politics
At the global and local level, women have limited opportunities to lead and participate in the political process, as they suffer from constraints in their roles as voters or officials; Whether in polling stations, the civil service, the private sector, and academia. This happens despite their proving their abilities as leaders and pioneers in the process of change, in addition to their right to participate in the democratic process on an equal basis with men. However, women face many obstacles that prevent their participation in politics; Such structural barriers that are imposed through racist institutions and laws still limit women’s choices to run for office. Women are equal to men in all political, economic, social, and cultural fields
