Embodied in the memory of all Moroccans, this anniversary is a moment of in-depth reflection on the glorious history and rich victories of Morocco. This is concrete proof of the unity of all Moroccans in the face of difficulties and adversity.

This moment of the communion of an entire nation, gives its letters of nobility to the courageous fight of a people united behind their Sovereign, the detonator of which was the Revolution of the King and the People, on August 20, 1953.

By celebrating this day, the Moroccan people corroborate their conviction and their support for the efforts made to preserve the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and consolidate its unique position as a country that provides peace and stability.

Independence Day is also an opportunity to pay a vibrant tribute to the father of the Nation, the late Mohammed V, who knew how to lead the Kingdom towards a new era marked by the victory of law over injustice and dignity over enslavement.

“We are delighted to be able to announce the end of the guardianship regime and the protectorate and the advent of freedom and independence”, declared Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef on November 18, 1955, on his return from exile in the company of the Royal family.
