 Speed races

To run is to move within the framework of a simultaneous confrontation in a limited space with a concern for speed and economy. thanks to a succession of jumps separated by monopodial supports mode of the movement calling on the physiological mechanical aspect .....

Running fast: it is managing to reach the greatest possible speed in a minimum of time and maintaining it over a determined distance (creating and maintaining speed.)

Sprinting is based on a brief and intense effort (100%) preventing the muscles from immediately supplying oxygen.

_Leaving (reacting quickly and explosively to a signal.)

_Putting into action. (the recovery: should not be fast)

_The race itself (conservation of speed) (searches for an optimum ratio: amplitude/frequency.)

Speed racing rules

Sprint races are the shortest and fastest events. The 50m and 60m are indoor distances, while the 100m, 200m, and 400m are run outdoors.

The start is given by the shot of the starter. To start, the runners squat on the starting line and lean on metal or plastic studs, the starting blocks. The races are timed by electronic devices and the wind, which can favor or disadvantage the runners, is taken into account for the calculation of the final time, the maximum "authorized" to homologate a time or a record being 2 m/s

An athletics track is a flat surface, of variable length, but an official of 400 m. It has eight lanes with a width of 1.22 meters. Often associated with other areas, such as the tracks for the long jump and the triple jump, the high jump, the pole vault, and the throws.

The main markings on the ground make it possible to delimit the corridors, the different starting lines according to the events, and to mark the finish line.

Other markings identify remarkable distances (every 100 meters in particular), markers for short races over several lanes (there is, therefore, a gap between competitors, each in their own lane), marks for the position of hurdles, marks for the start and end of the baton transmission zone for relay races. These markings all have the finish line as a reference point.

The speed races, in particular the flagship 100-meter race, are run on a single portion of the track: the longest side; a specific area extends the track, after the finish line, to allow competitors to gradually slow down.
